Specialist Technician - Atomic Manipulation and Spectroscopy

Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Specialist Technician
Research area or group: Atomic Manipulation and Spectroscopy
Description of Group/Project:
The main activity consists on the installation and supervision of the optical set-up of an equipment that combines a scanning probe microscope (SPM) that operates in ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic conditions with tip-enhanced photon spectroscopies such as Raman and luminiscence, called Photon-SPM hereafter.
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
Set-up, commissioning, and supervision of the optical spectroscopy equipment of the UHV Photon SPM. This includes lasers, spectrometers, detectors, time-resolved measurements.
Requirements:
- Education:
Bachelor level background in physics, nanoscience or engineering.
- Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Background in optical spectroscopies, experimental physics, instrumentation.
Experience in optical spectroscopies, development of instrumentation and optical set-ups
- Personal competences:
Good skills in technical instrumentation, programming for equipment control, data acquisition and analysis.
Proficiency in English, and demonstrated skills in oral and written communication.
Summary of conditions:
- Full time work (37,5h/week)
- Contract Length: Temporary
- Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
- Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
- Support to the relocation issues.
