Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Business Development Lead

Description of Project:

The InnoFAB initiative seeks to create a cutting-edge infrastructure with a 2,000 m² state-of-the-art cleanroom dedicated to advanced semiconductor technologies. With a total budget nearing 400 million euros, this strategic initiative aims to provide a unique environment for innovation, accessible to both industry and research institutions, enhancing the semiconductor manufacturing capabilities of the ecosystem and strengthening the European position in the semiconductor sector.

Recently, the Catalan Government has officially approved the launch of the InnoFAB initiative, which will initially have certain key actions (including the ones described for this position) executed from ICN2. 

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

The Business Development Lead will lead, together with the general coordinator of INNOFAB and the rest of the ICN2 team, the strategic development of INNOFAB as a research and development center for advanced semiconductor technologies. This profile will focus on establishing and consolidating key relationships with companies in the sector, research centres, universities and public administrations, as well as on the creation of both national and international collaboration networks. In addition, it will play a crucial role in the development and updating of INNOFAB's operations and business model, with a special focus on the development of the intellectual protection strategy, economic sustainability and the promotion of its technological capabilities.

1. Development and management of the business plan:

Preparation, updating and supervision of INNOFAB's business plan, ensuring its alignment with the strategic objectives of the centre and the needs of the semiconductor sector.

Identification of financing opportunities both at the public and private levels, through national and international funds, specifically focused on research and development in the field of semiconductor technology.

Collaboration with the project management to manage the long-term economic viability of INNOFAB, ensuring the sustainability of the center and the integration of new technologies in its processes.

2. Business development and strategic alliances:

Identifying, establishing and managing relationships with key stakeholders in the semiconductor sector, including technology companies, equipment suppliers, research centers, universities, and public administrations.

To foster strategic collaborations with leading companies in semiconductor technology, micro/nanotechnologies and the manufacture of advanced devices, to promote technology transfer and innovation at INNOFAB.

To develop and coordinate the national and international collaboration network, seeking synergies with other technological and scientific initiatives at a global level.

Actively participate in international events, conferences and forums related to semiconductor technology and advanced research to position INNOFAB as a leading center in the sector.

3. Intellectual Property Management:

In collaboration with experts, INNOFAB designed and implemented INNOFAB's intellectual property protection policy, ensuring that technological innovations and advances developed at the center are properly protected and managed.

Define the marketing strategies of the technologies developed, looking for opportunities for collaboration with companies in the sector.

4. Communication and representation:

Representation of INNOFAB in meetings with strategic stakeholders and authorities, both nationally and internationally.

Preparation of progress reports, presentations and proposals for potential investors, strategic partners and public bodies, highlighting the technological capabilities of the centre and its impact on innovation in the field of semiconductors.

Facilitate communication between technical teams and external partners, ensuring that business and research goals are aligned.

Requirements:

  • Education:

Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Chemistry or related sciences. Complementary training or master's degree in business management (MBA). Business development in the field of semiconductor technology will be valued.

  • Knowledge and Professional Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in business development, stakeholder relationship management and project management in the technological or research field, preferably in the semiconductor, micro/nanotechnologies or advanced manufacturing of electronic devices.

  • Personal competences:

Ability to think strategically and manage long-term relationships with various agents in the technology and research sector.

Effective communication skills in both Spanish/Catalan and English, with the ability to present complex proposals to technical and non-technical audiences.

Negotiation and leadership skills to foster alliances and trade agreements.

Knowledge of the global semiconductor technology landscape, including emerging trends, market needs, and collaboration opportunities.

English (high level is required).

Summary of conditions:
