ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Job Title: Construction Project Lead

Description of Project:

The InnoFAB initiative seeks to create a cutting-edge infrastructure with a 2,000 m² state-of-the-art cleanroom dedicated to advanced semiconductor technologies. With a total budget nearing 400 million euros, this strategic initiative aims to provide a unique environment for innovation, accessible to both industry and research institutions, enhancing the semiconductor manufacturing capabilities of the ecosystem and strengthening the European position in the semiconductor sector.

Recently, the Catalan Government has officially approved the launch of the InnoFAB initiative, which will initially have certain key actions (including the ones described for this position) executed from ICN2. 

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

The Construction Project Lead will be responsible for managing and coordinating the engineering activities within the framework of the INNOFAB project, monitoring deadlines, budgets and technical requirements during the project development phases (basic and executive project). This profile will play a key role in overseeing the execution of the construction project and in interacting with internal and external teams, working closely with those responsible for governance and external consulting.

  1. Project Planning and Management:

Supervision of the execution of the engineering and construction project, from the design phase to the construction phase (including scope, schedule, resources and budget).

Collaboration with the ICN2 team and other working groups to ensure alignment of project activities with INNOFAB's strategic objectives.

Management of the relationship with external suppliers and subcontractors and service provider companies including negotiation of contracts, technical-economic monitoring and ensuring compliance with deadlines and quality standards.

Coordination of multidisciplinary teams including engineers, contractors, technicians and suppliers specialized in HVAC, structures, electricity, etc.

  1. Drafting and management of tenders:

Support in the preparation of technical specifications for the tenders of the basic and executive project, or other related ones.

Coordination with technical teams to ensure that the specifications and specifications are aligned with the needs of the project.

Management of the bidding process, selection and hiring of external companies for the execution of the project.

  1. Obtaining licenses and permits:

Coordination of the administrative procedures for obtaining the necessary licenses for construction.

Interaction with local authorities and other regulatory bodies to ensure that all regulations and legal requirements are met.

  1. Risk management, communication and reporting:

Identify risks, propose solutions and maintain fluid communication with the ICN2 management team and INNOFAB managers on the status of the project.

Preparation of progress reports and presentation of results to those responsible for the governance of the project.

Requirements:

  • Education:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Technical Architecture, Public Works, or similar.

  • Knowledge and Professional Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering and construction project management, preferably in the field of technological or scientific infrastructure.

Experience in drafting and managing tenders and contracts for complex projects.

Knowledge in obtaining licenses and permits for construction.

Previous experience in cleanroom projects, laboratories or regulated environments would be highly valued (pharmaceutical, microelectronics, healthcare).

  • Personal competences:

Leadership and teamwork skills.

Effective communication skills with both internal and external teams.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Proficiency in project management and budget tracking tools.

English (high level is required).
