Accounting Officer

Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Accounting Officer
Research area or group: Finance department
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
- Bank transaction posting and reconciliation
- Clearing account monitoring and discrepancy resolution
- Visa process oversight and compliance
- Cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
- Tax compliance:
- Preparation for external tax filings
- Upkeep of tax records
- VAT ledger review and reconciliation
- Payroll accounting entries
- New hire approvals (payroll/HRIS setup)
- Headcount budget tracking and control
- Audit support, financial reporting, and period
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or similar
Knowledge
- Accounting knowledge: General Accounting Plan, KPIs, Balance Sheet, P&L, Regional Accounting Standards (CCAA), etc.
- English: Ability to communicate in English is essential.
- Advanced Office skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Power BI.
- Preferred: Knowledge of SAP BO.
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years performing tasks relevant to the position.
- Previous experience in Catalan research centers will be valued.
- Advanced accounting knowledge will be valued.
Personal Competencies
- Proactive, analytical, and highly organized.
- A team player with strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Able to present financial reports clearly and escalate issues effectively when needed.
Summary of conditions:
- Full time work (37,5h/week)
- Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
- Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
