Technical Product Developer

Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Technical Product Developer
Research area or group: Advanced Electron Nanoscopy
Description of Group/Project: In this R+D+I project (AGAUR PRODUCTE METHAFILTER) you will pave the way to the necessary biomethane post digester upgrading at much reduced cost, and, in addition, sequestrating the CO2 to be reused in a number of in-situ/ex-situ applications. You will develop lab scale advanced materials and technologies that will exhibit critical competitive advantages compared to current upgrading technologies, in particular for small producers. The origin of raw materials will be industrial waste from our partners and therefore you will work in a circular economy solution.
The absorber baseline product CO2rallites® have already been developed and patented at ICN2. The contract is for one year, with the possibility of an extension (one year more) and potential further carrer development in industry/spin-off.
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
- Understanding, development and conditioning of CO2 capturing materials from industrial waste at the nanoscale
- Help to design of the pilot-plant in real conditions (biomethane producer)
- In-situ and in-operando determination of the CO2 capture (e.g. TEM)
- Help the ICN2 B&I office and their spin-off to present the approach and/or conclusions in a comprehensive approach even for non-Carbon Capture specialist
- Develop the tools to help the B&I to identify unpredicted results and highlight new opportunities.
Requirements:
- Education: A degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or equivalent degrees
- Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Knowledge on material basic characterization techniques, i.e. XRD, TEM, SEM
Strong data analytics technical skills and proven experience in bibliographic research and reporting
Fluent English both spoken and written
- Personal competences:
Excellent team-working and interpersonal skills, able to build trust and confidence among partners and colleagues
Summary of conditions:
- Full time work (37,5h/week)
- Contract Length: Temporary (12 months)
- Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
- Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
- Support to the relocation issues.
