Nanofabrication Facility Technician

Our research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behaviour of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for three consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 comprises 19 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Job Title: Nanofabrication Facility Technician
Research area or group: Nanofabrication Facility and Flexible Fabrication Platform
Description of Group/Project:
The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join the Nanofabrication Laboratory as a lab technician. The selected candidate will assist in the operation of a diverse range of state-of-the-art nanofabrication equipment and contribute to the development of novel nanofabrication protocols, enabling significant advancements in the research conducted by ICN2 groups. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to be actively involved in all laboratory service activities
Main Tasks and responsibilities:
- Overall maintenance of laboratory equipment and cleanroom infrastructure. The candidate must possess the technical expertise to ensure the smooth daily operation of equipment, troubleshoot issues, and implement an effective maintenance program to optimize reliability and performance.
- Conduct user training across various nanofabrication areas.
- Supervise laboratory activities, ensuring that students and research staff use the equipment properly and efficiently.
- Promote safety compliance by training users on best safety practices and helping monitor adherence to laboratory safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Education:
University degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field (or have presented their TFG).
- Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and process development for sub-micrometer structures in device applications is required. Candidates should have experience in nanofabrication research and development, particularly in material deposition, etching tools and procedures, and lithographic techniques (e.g., e-beam, nanoimprint, and optical lithography).
- Personal competences:
Proficiency in English (both written and spoken), along with proactivity, teamwork, and strong communication skills, is essential.

- Full time work (37,5h/week)
- Contract Length: Temporary (1 year)
