Communication Officer


The mission of the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is to achieve the highest level of scientific and technological excellence in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Its research lines focus on the newly-discovered physical and chemical properties that arise from the behavior of matter at the nanoscale. ICN2 has been awarded with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence distinction for two consecutive periods (2014-2018 and 2018-2022). ICN2 comprises 18 Research Groups, 7 Technical Development and Support Units and Facilities, and 2 Research Platforms, covering different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Department: Marketing and Communication Department

Description of Group/Project:
The Marketing and Communication Department is a lively team that has the privilege to be part of the dissemination process of an exciting and growing knowledge area. It offers support to the communication actions of the ICN2 research community and administration Departments. It also coordinates dissemination activities oriented to different audiences (society, educational, industry, researchers) and leads internal and external communication projects in collaboration with the ICN2 personnel.

Main Tasks and responsibilities:

Management, update and improvement of the outreach and educational materials provided by the ICN2, with a special focus on the NanoEduca programme.
Bridging, through content curation and public relations, the gap between the ICN2 scientific staff and the audiences participating in the institutional outreach actions.
Having an active role in the design and execution of dissemination events to bring the educational and outreach contents closer to society in different formats (NanoKit, festivals, exhibitions, debates, social networks ...).
Identifing new funding opportunities and promoting the participation of the ICN2 Marketing and Communication Department in national and international outreach and educational projects.
Supporting other Marketing and Communication Department duties regarding scientific writing and reporting.


· Education
Degree in Physics or other nanoscience-related disciplines.
Master in Science Communication
· Knowledge
Highly familiarised with Physics and Nanoscience concepts.
· Professional Experience
Scientific writing and science dissemination experience will be valued.
Previous experience in High School teaching environments will be valued.

Writting skills
Fluent English

Summary of conditions:

· Full time work (37,5h/week)
· Contract Length: 1 year.
· Location: Bellaterra (Barcelona)
· Salary will depend on qualifications and demonstrated experience.
· Support to the relocation issues.

Estimated Incorporation date: October 2020.
